Our farm practices sustainable agriculture. For more information on this type of farming, please visit the page on our website titled Sustainable Ag - https://underwoodfamilyfarms.com/sustainable-agriculture/ We use best management practices, beneficial insects and crop rotation as just some of the ways to combat pests. However, just as a doctor sometimes needs to prescribe medicine, a pesticide or insecticide is needed to handle a disease or pest. Really the best thing is to know where your produce is from, that the farm you get your produce from maintains best management practices and that you wash your produce as even organic farms have a list of 200 pesticides that they are able to use.

They recently started delivering to Porter Ranch on Tuesdays, and it's been a godsend. I order the large box, and each week they have the freshest produce I have ever seen in my life. Everything is bigger too - the celery is just about two feet tall! It's amazing eating food that I know was picked the day before on a farm within 40 miles of my home. It lasts longer in the fridge, it's great to share a box with someone and each week I open a box full of surprises. I don't have to supplement with too much - just whatever meat/seafood I want to eat, garlic, onions, potatoes, that sort of thing. I'm forced to eat way more veggies this way, and I feel my health improving.

If you're hesitant about trying it out, get a large box and share with a friend or co-worker. It works out to about $13 a box, and it's enough for one person to eat for a week. You have to order a month at a time, which is fine if you consider swapping it for your normal grocery bill. It's the most reasonably-priced CSA box I've seen, the best quality, and at my pick-up location at Whole Foods, it stays nice and cold no matter when I pick it up. (My last CSA pickup was at someone's house on their front porch - not fun in the hot Cali summer!)

Don't hesitate! Just order!

I've been a member of the Underwood Farms CSA for 3 weeks now and I've been very impressed. All of the produce is absolutely gorgeous and very fresh. The variety is always great, and they have unique things like yellow watermelons. Love it!

I'm a member of the Underwood CSA program (I get the small box)- I was really bad about eating enough veggies, but getting a box of delicious farm fresh produce has really inspired my husband and I. Beyond the standard veggies most people are familiar with (corn, carrots, radishes, etc), they also include things I have not had experience with- kabocha squash, mizuna, heirloom tomatoes, to name a few. The staff is incredibly friendly (they always help me carry my box to the car, I have a 3 month old baby). I also have a season pass to the Moorpark farm, it's fun to walk around and look at the animals, and see where my food is actually growing!

It is very important to support our local farmers. I find it difficult to buy produce in markets because their produce comes from every place but right inside our own communities. People need a better understanding on the cost and shipment of products and how it effects our environment. Thank you Underwood Farms for supplying us with your wonderful produce. Mary

This Farm is a blessing. It's a great place to show my daughters insight into the farm-life experience. We have an annual pass where we take leisurely strolls, observing and learning about the animals while enjoying the farm's natural setting and environment. It's a great place for me to instill agricultural appreciation. We regularly go in the pick-your-own area which allowa me to teach them about soil, seed germination, and even pollination. We see lots of worms, ladybugs, and butterflies. The produce is always the freshest since it's always picked same day. The Farm also has the most hardworking and committed staff. I would highly recommend anyone who is in the area to visit this Landmark Jewel.
