I have been going to the downtown market for over 11 years. It is growing by leaps and bounds and has many local farmers/artisans/bakers representing many aspects of farming. Some are conventional, some organic, and some are not the farmer (re-sale). You have to ask and gain your own knowledge from each vendor.

Great music and lots of family fun. Try the walk/run at 8 am. Anyone can join in at any pace.

We decided to give it a try because we had heard so many good things about what was there. While waiting in line at a vendor, the vendor started mouthing off hate speech for no reason. We left, horrified. They have kid events there, it is supposed to be family-friendly. We contacted management repeatedly about the incident and they wouldn't respond. So they must support that kind of behavior. I wouldn't take my family back there when we have so many nice other places to go. (Other vendors also told us that it was an ongoing problem, not a one off.)

I would rather my money stay locally and to support local people trying to make a living. I would rather have my family eating food that has not been modified or grown chemically. It give you the chance to meet people face to face and foster a relationship with the growers and maybe share in someones life.

I believe Augusta is the place and for this market to be in downtown it has added to the charm. Great produce and the entertainment is nice. When at the market you can enjoy all that activitiy and take a walk on the RiverWalk.

My wife is the coordinator of the event but please take the time to enjoy the holiday markets and we hope you will return when the season starts again.

See you there.
