I was spending the night in Roanoke last week and looked for a place to eat on the local harvest website. The only restaurant listed was this one (there should be more!) and it was excellent. I took along 3 colleagues (one was skeptical) and they thanked me for it. I had the pizza with kale, garlic and goat cheese. The goat cheese was the highlight of the meal (a rich complex flavor) and comes from the Homestead Creamery just down Rt 220 in Franklin County near Smith Mtn Lake (They have a storefront in Burnt Chimney, VA and their milk is supplied by 2 local dairy farms). My skeptical dinner partner had the lamb sandwich and a salad of fresh greens and raved about it. I don't know if these were Roanoke prices but the meal was very affordable.

The restaurant is located in what we surmised was an old schoolhouse just up the road from the Grandin Theater neighborhood (very hip). I recommend any traveler staying in Roanoke will not be disappointed.
