The Covington Farmers Market is the highlight of my week. Organic fruit and vegetables locally grown; locally farmed chickens, quail and last but not least fabulous sweets from yummy home made lemon curd and pastries to decadently delicious chocolates - who could ask for more!

This market provides a win win opportunity for both the farmers and the consumers. It gives small home farmers a outlet for their produce and allows people in the community the chance to purchase fresh home grown or home made products.

I enjoy the hometown flair of Covington's market where you know the produce is locally grown and freshly harvested. There's a wide variety of the seasonal trees available as well. imagine the turn of the century with todays culture.

It's our only consistent resource for locally grown, organic produce. Not to mention some really great prepared foods, from tabouleh to peach cobbler.

Because they growers are local neighbors and what they produce is fantastic- The fresh farm milk, butter, and best original fresh creole cream cheese, tomatoes and hand made soaps, italian cookies and fresh sweet potatoe pies, are so wonderful. I also enjoy hearing the local musicians play. They also have great baked goods and even homemade dog treats!! So many things I would have never seen, heard, or tasted had I not been to the Covington Farmers Market. They showcase some of the best that Louisiana to offer.

I drive over 40 minutes to get to it...
That should say a lot right there.

Because the produce being sold there(Farmers Market) is locally grown and it subsists on the same air and water that we do, making it more compatable with our bodies than stuff grown outside our area. Also, it has better flavor.
Ever eat locally grown garlic? What a treat. Additionally, our strawberries are much sweeter than California ones (sorry Arnold). Not to mention its in support of our own farmers(not that we shouldn't have a world view of things like Global warming). Namaste

When I travel I seek out the local farmers markets as others may seek out the monuments because I find them to be vibrant, living representations of each area at ground level. Returning home each time I am happily reminded that our market, the Covington Farmers Market, is enduringly my favorite, one which offers our town not only great regional food but an open hearted place to meet weekly and to weave together our community.

I love the fresh fruits and vegetables, the baked goods and other prepared foods that are for sale,
the flowers and flowering plants, and the music by local musicians. It also offers me great photo-ops for my digital photography. Finally, I see a lot of my friends there.

From jams and jelly to fresh baked bread, the Covington market has it all. Year round produce, rain or shine. Live music. . . dirt floor and trees say it all.
