I discovered SCFC a couple of months ago in a quest to -1. eat more organically and healthier -2. support local farmers and industry wherever possible

The Bakersfield farm is about 10 minutes from my house and it is so convenient that I can go there on Saturday anytime between 2.30pm and 4pm and pick-up my veges. One of the most amazing things is seeing the farmers go out to the field and pick the veges for you. It doesn't get any fresher than that!

The variety has been great too. I have had beets, turnips, radishes, kale, Swiss chard, rainbow chard, Russian red chard (had to google that one!), arugula, many types of lettuce, spinach, parsley, collard greens, cilantro and more. And all that has been within the last 5 weeks. It's so much fun going out there to see what's in this weeks box.

I like that you can pay what you believe is right for you too. I think the prices are $15, $20, $25 or $40 whatever you want to donate.

This has been life changing for me because I was lucky if I got in one serving of veges a day. Now I can't wait to eat these delicious veges by the plateful and invent new recipes every week!

Can you answer a question for me? I've called and emailed- no response. Is there much variety in the fruit you've been getting? It seems like they mainly have different melons. I just want to know before I sign up- thanks!

Just picked up our first box from the Hollywood farmer's market! It weighed 32.4 lbs! Contents: watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, tomatoes, kale, chard, spaghetti squash, pattypan squash, eggplant, carrots, beets, two more kinds of squash, bittermelons. All the vegetables are in prime shape and I look forward to cooking them! The one thing which was difficult it finding the location of the SCF booth - we had to ask at the information desk.

I heard about the CSA from a Local Harvest email (THANKS) and ordered a box. I am now on my third box and they keep getting better! After telling friends all over LA...everyone who has participated is hooked on the yummy weekly gift.

Now, let's figure out how to get those farmers what they deserve- some land in LA!
