...and now that it's April 2012, I expect the Collingswood Farmers Market will open again any week. (Can't wait!) It's a wonderful market, with a nice assortment of vendors selling all sorts of beautifully fresh produce grown nearby, and much cheaper than supermarket prices! (Also, while the selection varies from year to year depending on what the farmers decide to experiment with planting, there are always some items that you just won't see at all in supermarkets.) Very popular, very friendly...the only drawback is that it's only open Saturday mornings. Well, and it's not held at all November through March, but what can you expect in this climate? This isn't southern California, after all.

It is the happiest time of my week. I get to walk to the market with my daughter who lives nearby, enjoy a delicious open-air breakfast and chat, see lots of folks I know, and buy BEAUTIFUL things to eat from wonderful local farmers we've come to know well.

It's vibrant. The community comes together in a sharing spirit. I go almost every Saturday.

Because the organizers are very careful about selecting local merchants and supporting local farmers. The prices for the merchandise are fair and support the local economy.

The link with local restaurants, including food preparation demonstrations, is outstanding. Also outstanding is the variety of foods and the excellent newsletter. Themed give-aways (bags, bandanas, magnets etc.) allow me to show my pride in the Collingswood Farmer's Market. Entertainment is not bad, either.

We have one of the oldest & best Farmers market in south Jersey. Rain or shine our farmers bring their fresh produce for our consumption. Our Governor has arranged for coupons to be given to those in need of help with their food bills.

Although I wish there were more organic produce, this farmer's market is a delightful social occasion with delicious just-popped kettle corn, beautiful cut flowers, potted plants, generous cider and food samples, and is very friendly to well-behaved pets.

It's along the speed line so sometimes it gets loud but the most pleasant sounds are the various musicians who play every week.

Collingswood is a beautiful sub-urban town with Philadelphia skyline visible from various vantage points and there are lots of young families buying their local produce from here from may until late November.
