As longtime (and now former) standholders there, my family pretty much let me grow up in this market. The food is out of this world, and the people are the friendliest around.

I love market! Great place to meet people and shop for local foods. It also gives people who do not drive means of buying food. York is a small town so you always see someone you know at market!

we need to keep this as part of our heritage. And we need to support local farmers and merchants.....

This historic market was the first indoor market in York, is the longest continuously operating market, and is owned by its vendors who are real working farmers.

Very friendly vendors, always willing to help. They know what they are talking about! If I have questions about how to prepare meats, how long to cook my fresh produce, where to plant a certain type of flower, someone is always willing to help. I know I am getting fresh items and where it came from. But one of the most important things I have discovered at the Penn and Market Street market is friendship. Can't be beat!

The pace is slow, the people are friendly, the prices are right, and the produce is as fresh as the morning's dew... it's a real local treasure.

It's local; it has wonderful meats and fresh produce; it's nearby. The delis and dessert stands are great. A community atmosphere develops as vendors and customers become friends and interact.

It is the most convenient place for me to pick up fresh meats, vegetables, and deli items during my work day. Also perfect for a quick, inexpensive lunch made with market-fresh ingredients.

Penn Street Market is a true gem in the city of York. Where else can you have breakfast or lunch, buy fresh produce, meats, flowers, fish and candy (just to name a few venders) in a quaint atmosphere. The venders that make up the market are friendly and make every market day a great day. If you have never been, plase stop by on Tuesday, Friday or Saturday and check it out.

Although we live in the City, it's so nice to be able to get fresh fruits and vegetables and have local butchers with outstanding cuts of meats.

This is the only real farmers market left in the city. They actually cut the met to your request, they have poultry, seafood, beef, pork , lunch meats, cheeses ,home made pies, cakes, plants, flowers ,produce, nice little restaurant for a great breakfast, sandwich stand that is second to none in town. The people that work at the stands are not vendors they are your friends. It is a great place to shop and just enjoy the ambience.

Penn Market is an authentic market for hard-working residents of York City and the prices are always GREAT. Located in a great block with a fabulous used book store, yoga studio, dance studio as well as a fine restaurant. Also, sits adjacent to the lovely Doctor's Row Neighborhood.

It is the last true farmers market left in York! And probably the oldest continuous operating one. It has fresh produce (local) and local butchers offering quality meats as well as a deli and lunch counter that makes home cooked meals.
