I love this market, but the last three times I came there ( from 40 miles away) there was NO parking at 8:30 am.
So I must forgo the great produce, flowers, fish and bread and stay with my local, handicap friendly farmers' markets and fruit stands.

Great local produce, bakeries, meat, fish, you name it, you can find it at the Rochester Public Market. The Rochester Public Market also has great little coffee cafes and flea market items and all kind of vegetable and flower plants. Everything is very reasonably priced and you can always find a bargin. My husband and I love going there on Saturday mornings.

I love going to the Rochester Public market. It's over 100 years old and still has the old brick street. I used to go there with my Italian grandmother as a child. She would buy live chickens and fresh produce. i loce the market because I can buy locally grown produce at a reasonable price. They sell everything from clothes to food to flowers and many other things. I can come home with lots of Stuff for a little price. I love how ethnic the market is . There are immigrants from so many countries that go there.. I can go to the market with my grown children and shop then go for a delicious mexican breakfast and a coffee. we sit around at an outdoor table and enjoy the morning. whenever we have new friends come to Rochester thats the first place i suggest that we go to. The market is awesome. Rochester is blessed to have it.

Rochester Public Market has a little bit of everything in terms of products and has the feel of a larger market like Seattle. There is a lot to see, do, and experience from fresh coffee and pastries to ethnic food, flowers and fresh seafood. Rochester Public Market has a warm and inviting atmosphere, which makes it a great place to meet-up with family and friends on the weekend. On top of all of this, there are outstanding bargains!

It's open all year round. They offer great coffee. Scott's egg sandwiches are legendary. And, then, of course, there's the fruit, vegetables and cheese.

Rochester's market is so much fun as the farmers bring their food, everyone is friendly, compares notes, and there are tons of bargains. Also, everyone comes,: young and old, rich, poor , and middle class, black, brown, every color, Latino, Polish, Chinese, and most every ethnicity. At the end the poor and others scavenge the piles of food discarded and take home lots of food that only needs a spot cut out. It is so uplifting. I go most Saturdays and buy produce year round there.

It is simultaneously a place to support local farmers and businesses, get fresh produce and products, and a cultural meeting place. At a time when people need to stay on a budget, it allows them the ability to use fresh products, while not spending a fortune.

Our family enjoys the wide variety of produce and items available at the Rochester Public Market along with the socialization that happens there. It is so un-boring to know that we live in a diversified cultural melting pot still and that every vendor has something to offer us at many widely varying prices. The local produce along with the many items sold at a much more affordable price for our family's current budget are what is the primary reason for our many visits and the congeniality of the people is just "the icing on the cake or freshly made sweet-potato pie made by one of the top-quality bakers found there.

I've lost track of how many years I've been shopping there - the vendors have become friends, and my weekend isn't complete without my Saturday morning visit. The food is fresh, affordable, and you can even get your wine there! I love the experience, and feel valued as a customer. No one at the local mega-grocery store knows me, but if I miss a weekend at the market, I hear "Hey, where were you last weekend? We missed you!"
Why anyone would prefer to shop anywhere else is beyond me...

It gives me a reason to wake up on Saturday mornings. The market is a lively hub of food, flowers, crafts, and other goods, filled with people buying and selling and reveling in the local bounty. My boyfriend and I drive in to town with our reusable shopping bags and stock up on fresh and inexpensive locally grown produce, as well as some other crafts and goodies.

It's an eclectic gathering place of people from all walks of life, joined by farmers and great produce --- but you never know what else you might find. A favorite booth is Freshwise, a hydroponic greens producer sponsored by Foodlink, providing upstate New Yorkers challenged with a short growing season with local greens --- including incredible micro-greens --- all year round. The Public Market is a tradition and a gem.

If you are looking for tomato plants on Flower City Sundays, look no further than Audrey Deane, the ~Tomato Queen~ in booth 34. She grows fabulous heirloom and hybrid tomato plants, basil, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, and peppers in her backyard, not a greenhouse, in Webster. Definitely seek her out for strong, healthy plants in unusual colors and stripes at a GREAT price!
Google "Tomato Queen" and "Rochester, NY" to find her website and e-mail to request an early peak at her colorful guide for the extensive inventory sold on Flower City Sundays. Audrey's plants are also available at Thomas Landscaping in Webster, Harris Garden Center in Penfield, CountryMax in Ontario, and Grandpa's on Route 104 on the way to Sodus.
Also keep an eye out for her garden classes and tours, newspaper features and appearances on the Bob Lonsberry radio show on WHAM. The ~Tomato Queen~ has delighted customers for over ten years and looks forward to feeding even more families every year. Hope to see you at the market!
