It's great to be able to buy such fresh fruits and vegetables in such a great location!

because it makes the neighborhood a happy, healthy, fun, interesting, friendly, tasty, pretty and all round better place to live.

It's a five minute walk from my house, has everything I need, has fun contests and activities-- like last weekend's Strawberry Shortcake eating contest, and has a small, homey charm to it. It makes my Saturday!

I live in the neighborhood, which is mostly an artist's community that embraces the local green movement wholeheartedly. Many restaurants here proudly feature local foods, and young business owners in Billyburg are getting back to old-fashioned sciences, creating authentic natural products, from food- like cheeses and chocolates- to wine and beer (among other things). A new generation is emerging here that is special, thoughtful and recognizes the beauty of the hard work that goes into using the land, manufacturing honest high-quality products, all while maintaining a healthy environment and supporting local small businesses.
