Last year at this time I wanted to pre-order a heritage breed turkey for my Thanksgiving celebration. I live in Florida and had exhausted my search though out the internet. I decided to check out local places and came across "Circle-S-Ranch through "LocalHarvest". Stewart responded to my inquiry promptly but also informed me that he only sells "Live" stock. Since I would not know how to begin to prepare a live turkey for my Thanksgiving dinner he was very helpful in recommending alternative places I could try. Thank you Stewart for all your help and sorry it took me so long to respond with a review.

We bought our first chickens from this place a couple of years ago, and have never gone back for replacements. The 6 we bought all ended up developing fowl pox (we never had any other chickens, ever from anywhere else so it had to come from within those birds) and he way overcharged, claiming them to be older than we believe they were, as it took them several weeks longer to start laying than predicted, and longer than the chickens we have since bought from other locations. We also didn't feel good about the conditions the chickens were living in on his farm.

Fowl pox is a mosquito transmitted disease. When bitten & infected it does slow up the chickens growing & laying cycle. The vaccine only works at a 50% prevention, and in mosquito infested areas even lower %'s. So those issues can't be blamed on a breeder or stock as much as location they are kept in. The presence of fowl pox explains delayed egg productiion. Knowledge is key when dealing with poultry not personal inexperienced emotions or opinions..
