We are fortunate in NYC to have a number of offshoots of the celebrated Greenmarket at Union Square. While the market at DHP is smaller than US, it's got everything I need. Since it's located at 47th and 2nd, it's well within comfortable walking distance of my apartment.

My favorite farms are Samascott and S & S. O. Their produce is excellent, reasonably priced and the atmosphere is friendly and festive.

As the posters advise us, supporting farmers from the tri-state area is truly the basis for Homeland Security. I'm so grateful we have it in our neighborhood on Wednesday -- it's a treasured little gem!

Everything is so much fresher and cheaper than our local rip-off grocery stores. I want to support the local farmers, not farmer's in other countries. My two favorites are Luke Samascott from Samascott Farms and an older man named Ted who is the only one where you can get plants and flowers for my garden. In fact if it wasn't for Ted my garden terraces would be bare. I sit in my garden now and thank my farmer friends. We all know each other by first names and have retained a good relationship. Part of my weekly jaunt is always looking forward to seeing these people. And the nicest thing is that in this location, they are open all year around.

Proximity. Freshness. And who in there right mind wouldn't want to support our local farmers. Power to the farmers.

Dag Hammerskjold Plaza Greenmarket is the perfect size and location for me. It is not too big it's easy to move around. You can even have a seat on a bench and enjoy some people watching while you're there. I feel so grateful to the vendors bringing us wonderful nutritious foods every week no matter what the weather is like.

I live on 59th St. and 1st Ave and it's the most convenient greenmarket (we don't have whole foods nearby and the organic selection in our local supermarkets is abysmal). Once a week the best vendors, that are usually present at the Union Square greenmarket, come here and they treat you like family. My favorite stand is 'Maxwell Farms' and I also love the honey from Rexcroft farms.
