I've been shopping here for years. So long, that many of the farmers know me by either name or sight. I love buying produce that was picked that morning or the day before. Not to mention that I feel great supporting family farms.

This Farmer's Market, located at the State Farm Show Parking Lot at Cameron Street and Elmerton Avenue is just the best in Harrisburg for local produce. It is far superior to Harrisburg's Broad Street Market which has little REAL Farmers and little LOCAL produce these days. The same farmers have been coming to the PA Open-Air Farmers Market for years and if you go regularly they will get to know you. You can ask questions about produce, how it's grown, how to cook or how to store and your questions will be cheerfully answered. The early weeks will have bedding plants, vegetable starters, hot house tomatoes and spring greens, followed by the abundance of Central PA fruits and veggies at the height of the season, ending with winter squashes and the diversity of apple varieties. I miss this market when the season closes in November and eagerly await it's opening each May. (By the way, I believe it's current hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm) You won't be disappointed!
