I want to support local farmers and have access to fresh fruits, vegetables and locally baked goods as a mean to support small business and small agriculture. This market is truly a melting pot of cultures with no pretense of being something other than a farmers market where basic needs are met and not a trendy or faddish venue for folks to be PC. This market is a necessity not a luxury for the thousands of people who visit it weekly.

The produce is plentiful, and there is tremendous diversity at more reasonable prices than most farmer markets. In addition to being a San Francisco institution, it is a neighborhood place where we see old friends and meet new ones.

Extremely diverse "cultural" foods representing many, many ethnic groups of peoples diet! And, it is now over 1/2 or more organic grown, locally grown! I love The original San Francisco local Farmer's Market@

I love this market for all of the marvelous vendors, for the sense of community, for the beautiful produce, and for all of the history.

A real farmers market, not a marketer's vision of what a farmers market SHOULD look like!

It's the locals only market that still has great organic produce for awesome prices.

The first and most affordable still SF Farmer's market. Sure, the embarcadero is the prettiest - perhaps in the country, but the Alemany is still the real thing.

It is affordable, unlike the yuppy farmer's market at Embarcadero, which you can't afford unless you are rich.

Is the original farmer's market in the city. And is much cheaper then the upscale farmer's market.

Great selection and fair prices. Also, lots of great prepared food for purchase. And, of course, the Cat Lady!

It's the best farmer's market in town. Prices are reasonable and the choice is outstanding!

This market has a diverse selection of local fruits, vegetables, artisan breads, cheeses, spreads and ethnic foods. It has a good selection of organic produce at great prices that compare to non-organic produce. It's a busy market with a range of people from diverse ethnicities and income levels. This is not a market that only the very wealthy can shop at, it caters to all income levels.

The best, the freshest farm to market produce there is. Wonderful vendors. The best prices around. The 'powers that be' in the political landscape need to leave it be. It's a bustling community center every Saturday.

IT IS CALLED THE ALEMANY FARMERS MARKET. IT IS UNDER THREAT FROM THE POLITICAL AND CORPORATE MOVES WHICH SEEK TO SHUT DOWN AND PRICE OUT GENUINE FARMERS MARKETS: THOSE WHICH MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE PEOPLE FRESH, LOCAL AND AFFORDABLE PRODUCE FROM NON-CORPORATE SOURCES. IT IS THE LARGEST, OLDEST AND THE ONE ACTUAL "FARMER'S" MARKET IN SAN FRANCISCO, UNLIKE THE OUT-OF-REACH BOUTIQUE MARKETS (THE FERRY BUILDING MARKET? GIVE ME A BREAK!!) PLEASE SUPPORT THE ALEMANY MARKET (HELD EVERY SATURDAY) AND ITS SATELLITE MARKET AT THE SAN FRANCISCO CIVIC CENTER PLAZA (NEXT TO CIVIC CENTER BART, EVERY WEDNESDAY AND SUNDAY)

This is a very accessible market! You'll always find not only the most diverse selection of farmers, but also the most diverse selection of patrons. You get the same quality as you do at "upscale" markets like the Ferry Building, but at a much lower cost.

It's got the most diverse selection of farmers as well as a wide variety of home grown products like cheeses and bread. Also prices at this market seem to be lower, not sure why.
