It's close, shady, grassy, dog-friendly, and has everything--fish, lamb, chicken, veggies, crafts, coffee, etc. Super-friendly, the Saturday meeting place. Not too small, not too big--JUST RIGHT!

The produce is consistently fresh, tasty and plentiful. The variety beats other markets and it's local. I like eating food grown in the same soil and air as I grown on.

This market its a true tailgate market where I can meet the growers and farmers, and I've never been dissapointed with any of the produce, meats, breads, or cheeses, that I go there to purchase, in fact I've had many occasion where on Monday or Tuesday I wanted more "of those great collards", or "that delicious Blue Gouda cheese" or "Black heart Cherries" and couldn't wait till the next Saturday morning.

because it is fabulous and they are pretty strict about making sure only farmers that don't use toxic sprays can be there.

because they are local, friendly, have a great group of merchants, they are fun! They keep me up to date on what to expect at the market each week. If you got questions about growing food, composting, or about recipes,or just about anything they have answers!

All local, all organic, lots of variety in the vegetables offered plus fresh meats, seafood, crafts and music. A great place to buy healthy food and socialize with friends and neighbors. And no one else has Harry to declare the market open.

The fresh produce is the most delicious produce I have ever eaten - so much more flavor than grocery store produce that was picked at least a week ago. We have a CSA box each week from Foothills Family Farms, also a flower share, and we buy all our meat and seafood there. Superb! We also support the local farmers to lessen the grip of agribusiness on our nation's food supply. We are opposed to genetically engineered, unregulated food.

The vendors have become friends. Because of them I have begun eating more organics and refuse to buy certain items at the chain grocery stores. I do not worry about the food being recalled. It has been great fun watching the children of vendors grow up and to watch the various businesses expand. I truly miss the Saturday morning get-togethers during the winter months.

Saturday at the tail gate market is the high light of our week. We cannot wait to see what is being offered. The locally produced crops are fresh and well presented. The growers are both helpful and friendly. There are a lot of choices, and we also enjoy trying new things. The market is the best ever and seems to get better every week. The addition this year of locally produced goat cheese and fresh fish from the coast are wonderful.

I support my BMTM because it brings my community together and provides a place where we can purchase an array of healthy products, organic foods, flowers, plants, as well as many other items, and establish personal relationships with all those that work so hard to bring all these things to our community.
It is also leaves a very positive and creative impression on all the children that attend. You hear them talk of wanting to have there own stand where they are able to sell something they have made or grown. They get to see, first hand, the results of hard work and dedication, team work and accomplishment and they all seem to have a good time.
We have a good thing going on here in Black Mountain!

Lots of friendly growers are offering to freshist and tastiest vegetables I have bought in years.
Others are offering eggs and meat free of hormones and chemicals that I do not want to eat.
Wonderful crafts are available fdrom local artisans.
And the flowers are spectacularly colorful and fresh!
My vote is for the Black Mountain Tailgate Market.

This market is located on a beautiful lot behind the First Baptist Church. It is a grassy area with old oak trees, a welcoming site. The BMTGM is a very family friendly area to spend on a Sat. morning. In addition to the fresh food(garden) vendors, there is a variety of local crafts and fresh baked breads, baked goods and fresh pies and cannolis. The vendors are especially friendly and accomadating. We also have a few children booths set up: toys for children and dogs and cats, dog treats, lemonade and more. There is even a face painting and arts booth. This is a very long standing market and still growing with enthusiam. Thanks for the opportunity.

There are many reasons. It was the first step in reviving local agriculture. It has a long history of providing a broad variety of fresh, low spray/no spray food at reasonable prices. Many of our summer visitors look forward to coming to it. It is creating new jobs for working people and is helping to broaden our economy. It keeps money at home. It strengthens our sense of community. And, it is fun!
