Because they offer good food, fresh fruit, veggies and culturally relevant produce to their community. And they accept WIC and SNAP. So they are not exclusive or limiting to the community they serve, but inclusive and supportive of all those who want to eat good, fresh, just-picked produce regardless of their financial status. This is what a farmer's market should be.

Crossroads Farmers markets provides invaluable social services to low-wage workers and the unemployed: Fresh, nutritious food, which can be purchased for food stamps; WIC and other programs; international music; a fun place to gather outdoors; and exposure to local, independently-owned businesses. What more do you want from a farmers market?
