Sunday visits to the Walnut Creek farmers market were always the highlight of my week when i lived in California. The food was always scrumptious, the sales people delightful and the atmosphere festive. Samples of mouth watering peaches and other fresh fruits abound and unusual delicacies from the Middle east are on display. You can even have you knives sharpened. The whole spectrum of fresh food seafood to bake goods is in sight. One must try the cinnamon kettle corn. I miss strolling thorough the fresh cut flowers and hearing the music and friendly conversation of vendors and visitors. It is a true delight!

While I no longer live near Walnut Creek the market there will always be one of my best memories. The produce was fresh and wonderful, the variety of it was stunning. I would plan my year around the items that I would know were coming. In the spring I would spend a delirious month working with fava beans. Mid-summer would see the return of the heirloom tomatoes followed by the Buddha hand Citreons as the holidays neared. Each week was special and different. To top it off, there was an ancient oak that had been colonized by wild bees in the middle of the market. Year round they would make their forays into the surrounding area for pollen and nector. What a great treat this market was.

I shop there every Sunday. The produce is beautiful and fresh, the farmers are very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Although they may not be certified organic, most of the produce is organic,no sprays, waxes, pesticides, or fungicides. They are always there, rain or shine.

There is a good number of vendors of both fresh and prepared foods, including some very local farms, which I prefer to even those in the central valley, and north, and parking and navigating the market is easy. I also like the selection of prepared foods. ANd the prices aren't outrageous. It woud be great if this market won, as I would really like to see even more local organic produce and meats and fish than we have now. It would be great if the fish monger had a wider selection and could assure us of line caught and which waters their products come from, and ideally we would have a number of butchers, fresh eggs, local cheeses, and more fish. I would love to see more organic stalls. I think it also could benefit from more music to become as great as , say, the San Luis Obispo Thursday market, and the Pismo market.

There are many vendors selling their beautiful produce, and theere is a nice mix of farmers and prepared food vendors and craftspeople. But most of all I enjoy the bounty of ORGANIC PRODUCE and the kind, earthy people selling them.

The Walnut Creek Farmers Market is is the best I know of in this area. It is well managed and offers a place for our local small farms (many of them organic!) to meet with and sell there outstanding produce, eggs and sustainably raised meats to the public. Also a great place to meet like minded folks and listen to some great local musical talent.

The personal attention by the vendors. They knew me (after only a few visits), and they remembered what I like. They have even sendt me to another stand if they don't have "my usual". And, we have seen the market evolve from the Library lot to the Locust St. setup. And to think, Bakesale Betty used to have a stand, too!

They truly care about bringing fresh local produce to people that would generally never shop for it. The warm and friendly environment is unlike anything this town has ever seen.

I find the Walnut Creek Farmers' Market to be the best in the area. There are more venders and more variety and better quality. I won't shop at any other farmers' market. I especially love the delicious fruit and tomatoes in the summer.

Where else can you pick up the tastiest organic fruits and veggies at good prices grown by local vendors and get a massage? Then top it all off with a fresh cup of coffee and a yummy pastry and you're all set to go for the week!

I have regular vendors I see and it's like family. I love the variety of produce down to multiple types of lettuce, tomatoes, peaches, etc whatever is in season. There is a set of tables that is just greens with masking tape price markers. Quick, easy peazy, fresh and healthy. Then there's the music wafting over the air. I see friends to catch up on news, and make plans for future get togethers . It's the best. FS

I am honored with the privelidge of working for this market as a market assistant. I am lucky as a teen to have such a great job that I can firmly say I enjoy doing. This market is like one big family, and it's wonderful how everyone seems to get along so well.

I have been going to this market since I was born. It has always been fun and the people who run it are the best. Since it moved to the new place, it is a hundred times better and it was the best before. I love the farmers and the other sellers especially the kettlecorn guy. Hope you guys win!
