This market would be much better if it catered more to the small time grower or home gardener. This would also allow the availability of different types of produce, ect, rather than the same thing and the same dealers every week. Most small timers cannot meet all the demands that the market "leaders" require. i.e., application forms and letters, county extension agent letter, having to be present in your space every week, certified kitchen, ect. ect.
I also highly doubt that some of the dealers meet the requirements of only selling what they grow. I have personally seen them 2 years in a row now taking produce out of boxes that you would buy at a wholesalers market. There is no way that they personally grow the 10-15 different items on their tables.
I would much rather see more small vendors selling a variety of home-grown, fresh local produce than this version of a "local" farmers market. I'll take my business elsewhere.

Not just a farmers market, it lends old time ambience to the gorgeous and historic town square, and it is fast becoming a weekend community event. Families together. Babies in strollers. Barry the guitar guy sining and kids dancing. Dogs (on leashes). Old friends meeting again after a long time. This is what it is all about. Wish we had a covered pavillion over the parking lot.

Even though I don't live in C'ville anymore, going thru the square is something I do frequently; having the famers market there is an awesome convenience, but more than that I remember when I moved to C'ville in the early 80's as a young teen and remembering how quaint even then that I thought the venders were that set up on the square. Having the farmers market in C'ville gives back a bit of that small town feeling.

It is our home. Collierville residents must support their community. That is what has made Collierville strong. The stronger it grows the larger it becomes. People want to live here because it is a safe place to raise children. It would not be safe if the community did not support each other. We can be proud to be part of such as great commmunity.

The Collierville Farmers Market has been such a win/win endeavor! The vendors (farmers) are great! I have bought some of the very best silver queen corn I have ever had the pleasure to eat in my life (from mr zong at the very end) the organic tomatoes, pecans and honey are amazing and I have never regretted buying anything from the peach world farm! The farmers are nice and polite - all the customers seem to be having a ball - and I am so proud of all the people who stepped up and gave up hours of their precious time to volunteer. The farmers market would not be where it is today (and it is just 6 weeks old) without the amazing volunteers who make it happen! Go Collierville!! Yeah! Go Farmers Market!

Since Easy Way left their Poplar Ave location several years ago, we have had no way of getting farm-fresh and local vegatables here in Collierville. Now we can finally buy local foods that were picked ripe, rather than that other disgusting way, that gives one color but not taste or nutrition, and that adds chemicals such as msm and artificial colors. Hooray!

I love the idea of shopping for fresh produce directly from the farmer! Being a gardener myself, I can appreciate the hard work that a small farmer puts into his products. I love being outdoors shopping and it's a great way for socializing with friends and neighbors. I can make an event of shopping at the Farmer's Market and asking my friends to go with me (compared to NOT asking my friends to go to the local grocery store with me - boring).
I support the local farmers, which in turns, supports my town's local economy.
