We attended the opening of the market today 6 April 2013. We drove 20 miles to get to the market, what a disappointment! There were only three produce vendors at the market and the rest were more crafty or baked goods. Those three vendors all had boxes in their booths from different states where they had purchases in bulk what there were selling. This was not locally grown produce from local gardens or even from Florida at all. I could have gone to Publix and purchased produce, which is probably what these vendors had done. Will not be making the trip again. This was not a true farmers market.

The Port St. Joe Florida Salt Aire Farmer's Market is bringing attention to the many wonderful farmers in the area as well as bringing people downtown on Saturday morning. It is an event that has our community supporting both. Ours is a very young market but has already become the thing to do on Saturday morning. Commendations to the local organizers for a job well done.

It is great to have fresh produce. There also seems to be some old fashion togetherness. I always run in to the most interesting people there. We also have some local art and great cooking demos.

This market has been great for our small community. We have very limited access to fresh foods grown locally. It has filled a real void.
