This is one of my favorite farmers markets anywhere and I like that it REALLY helps the recovery/rebuilding of this area after Katrina, by helping the local growers! Also, it helps our community have badly needed access to low cost, locally-grown fresh foods!!

Because it's naturally nawlins' dawlin. lol And, it's so fresh and good. The garlic hanging, the avocados, the right kind, not from california....Squash to die for, and the cucumbers, have to be the best in the business....

It's great to have a source for really fresh seafood, fruit, and vegetables - especially Chilton County, Alabama peaches, vine ripe Creole tomatoes, fresh drum (fish), fresh shrimp, fresh crabmeat, and picked ripe Louisiana strawberries

Not only are they the only market I have been to with as wide a variety as they have, they are the only market that both supports the use of food stamps and give discounts for food stamp users I have ever visited.

Yes... it is possible one or two of the stalls are from markets that are not located inside Louisiana, but Louisiana climate can be a difficult climate for so many fruits and vegetables. Still, we do what we can to keep our carbon foodprint small, and Mississippi and Florida are not California or Peru.
I love the energy at the CC Farmer's Markets. It's about people supporting local farmers...and their families get to taste the difference.
It's the high point of my week.

The market is always pleasing and it is so nice to have the specialty items. I also love the fresh staples that a New Orleans kitchen must have. Some of the vegetables taste like grocery store produce and I'm sure they aren't local but at least we are still contributing to the small business side of the economy. I do believe produce that is not homegrown should be labeled as such because the market does state that it is grown by the actual vendor. I have been going to the market for years and have made many friends. The farmers are friendly and interesting.

A lot of the produce is not local.
