The quality of the vegetables and fruits is fine, however the customer service is terrible. After having paid in full back in February for a summer CSA share, I went yesterday to pick up my first box of the season, only to find my name was not on the list and there was not a box for me at the pick up site. I was very disappointed and immediately called and e-mailed the farmer to inform her of the problem. I was not rude, just wanted to know how to go about getting my box. What I got back from her were very rude replies and then I was told she didn't want my business and was refunding my money. Wow, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will stick with Friends & Farms in Columbia. Excellent customer service and quality produce.

We were CSA members with Calvert Farm for three years before we moved out of the area, and boy do we miss them. The variety of produce was always great and the quality exceptional. We picked up at the Baltimore Farmers Market, which was great because we could choose our produce and chat with Pam. We feel like we really got to know everyone at the Calvert Farm stand and looked forward to our visit every weekend. It was also a really special treat when we would come to pick up our share and they were saving something special for members, like sweet cherries or the first strawberries of the season.

This was our first time with a CSA and we LOVED it! We received a fantastic variety and quality of fresh produce, even despite a season of extreme weather conditions (heat and hurricanes). A full share was perfect for our family of 4 (two adults and two toddlers). I learned to cook many new types of greens, and my boys learned to eat them! Some favorites of the season included peaches and cherries (best I've ever tasted, hands down), tons of gorgeous lettuces, garlic scapes (stuffed a roaster chicken with them - WOW!), and more versions of squash than I could name. What a blessing to fill our bodies with nutrient-rich, chemical-free food! Thanks so much, Calvert Farm!

This is our second year with a CSA and our first year with Calvert Farm. The quality of the produce and the variety we receive each week is excellent - we are very happy and will be joining again next year. Unlike our previous CSA, Calvert Farm has some great and unexpected items, like mushrooms and cherries. Everything is always very fresh and beautiful!

Please see my previous review. I emailed Calvert about my concerns and they responded right away. I will not be joining next year but I was very impressed that they cared about their members's feedback.

This is our second year with Calvert Farm's CSA. Last year was a good year so we joined again. This year has been very disappointing. The quantity is tiny compared to this time last year. In addition, we have compared our box to other CSA's in the area during the last few weeks and the quantity pales in comparision when you look at the many different types of things those farms are providing. The quality is just ok and nothing like it was last year. In addition, we have received emails on "CSA Etiquette" along with signs on the topic at the pick up location. I would imagine there are very few offenders to the guidelines provided so the curt communication to the whole group is not warranted and makes for an unpleasant experience.

I wish Calvert luck next year but we will not be joining the CSA again.

I split a fall CSA share with a friend at Calvert Farm this year for the first time, and loved it. The produce was always fresh, high-quality, beautiful and delicious, and I loved that instead of getting a pre-selected box, I was able to hand-select my items each week because I chose the Baltimore farmer's market as my pickup location. (although, I'm sure that I would enjoy it even if they selected the items for me!) They have had a great variety from week to week, and I have really enjoyed everything I've gotten there. I will definitely be signing up next spring, and for years to come!

This CSA does provide a weekly box of produce. They did attempt to work out an issue that we had with them, and were not all bad. However, the farm could provide a better experience. The farm does not communicate well and did not reply in a timely fashion to email correspondence, you do not know what will be in the boxes each week ahead of time, things in the boxes are not labeled so new and different items are a mystery. This can be fun too, so it's not all bad. Overall, we did not have a good experience with Calvert Farms. Keep in mind too, that if you pickup your food from someone's porch, it will have been left out in the heat and thus much less fresh. This, I suppose, is a drawback of CSAs as a whole and is only a point of note rather than a contributing factor to the two star rating we gave this CSA.

Pam Stegall Roberts hosted a "pea and potato planting party" on March 20 and March 21, at which CSA members could bring a covered dish, a favorite hand tool, and a desire to help Calvert Farms get seeds into the ground. Pam got things started with a tour of the farm, then we broke out the hoes and seed.

We had a great time planting peas, starting leek flats, and walking around the farm (which is home to a young eagle, a pair of red tail hawks, and lots of other wildlife). We've been members of Calvert Farms CSA for several years and continue to be delighted with the produce we receive.

This had been my first season with a CSA, and it was fabulous! Each week, I couldn't wait to see what would be in the box. Often there were surprises - such as a yellow watermelon (what a surprise to see when I cut it open), garlic scapes (I had no idea what they even were), and collard greens (I had to run to a neighbor's house to learn how to cook them). The produce was all so beautiful and tasty. Pam has been very friendly and helpful. I'm very much looking forward to the Fall CSA season and wonder how Im going to manage over the winter without my weekly box of fresh produce. Thanks a million, Pam, for introducing me to the world of organic produce in such an exciting way.

My husband and I started our first year's subscription to Calvert Farms CSA this year, and we were prepared for a good supply of fruits and veggies every week. We were amazed at the quality of the produce from our first week. Everything is so beautiful, it is almost redundant to eat it, too. I have never seen such gorgeous fruits and vegetables in a store or produce stand. When we bring them home, I arrange them and take a picture of them to show friends and family what we have gotten. When I email the pictures our, the ooohs and ahhhhs are abundant. Several people have asked how they can join up next year. I can say without doubt that we will be staying with Calvert Farms! The food is so tasty and fresh, the variety is wonderful, and the chance to try things we can't find in the grocery store are wonderful. I grew up eatting fresh, home-grown vegetables, so I know what good is. Calvert Farms produces the best!

We joined the Calvert Farm CSA for the first time this year - and - LOVE IT. Each week we anxiously await our Wednesday afternoon pick-up, and each week we're pleasantly surprised by the wonderful selection inside our box. Not to mention, the quality is superb!! After just a few weeks as Calvert Farm members, my husband and I are convinced that we will never live without a CSA membership again... And, hopefully it will always be Calvert Farm!

I participated in this farm's CSA last year for the first time and was very pleased. I am anxiously waiting for the start of this year's growing season. All the produce offered was beautiful and varied. I was able to try different vegetables that I would not normally have been exposed to. I found the cost of participating to be very reasonable as well.
