I am one of the vendors for Oak Park's most popular produce stand: Sandhill Organics. We are the only vendor that is 100% local and organic, growing everything with hard work and love in Grey's Lake, Illinois. I love the farmer's market for 2 main reasons: one, when you go to the farmers market, everyone is so happy to be eating local and organic food: it just tastes better, and there's something about getting up early and joining everyone in the healthy act! 2, the farmer's markets are so healthy because they drastically cut down in carbon resources needed to ship food from tropical areas of the world all the way to the midwest, some of us (like Sandhill) use no pesticides! And last, and my favorite, lots of Farmer's Market shoppers bring their own bags, cutting down on evil plastic! But really, come join us. Great produce at Sandhill Organics, delicious homemade doughnuts from the Pilgrim Church staff that houses us, and a really fun bluegrass band, every saturday til the end of October.

We loved our farmers' market when we lived in Oak Park. The growers were wonderful as was their produce, it was fun to go to and we always bought too, too much...PERFECT!

Oak Park Farmers' Market is the best because they make sure the farmers are real and not just buying & selling. It is a lot of fun with the music, donuts, and community ties.

It is the best place for fresh produce. AND I want to support our local farmers.

Fresh produce, organic cheeses, free-range meats, mouth-watering doughnuts (with proceeds supporting local nonprofits), bluegrass music, and two great climbing trees where kids hang out. It's not just a farmer's market, it's a community gathering place.

This market is an original so to speak--around for more than 30 years and long before "local" and "green" were trendy. I've enjoyed it so much as a consumer that in recent years I've become a Friend, volunteering to at the Commissioners' tent and serving patrons and vendors with questions, lost items, health crises, and suggestions for making the market even better in the future..

I love Heidi, whom my family calls "the flower girl" for her generosity to my kids and the beautiful and unusual flowers from her farm. I also love visiting with all the friends we run into there. Finally, of course, the wonderful fresh organic vegies, fruits, cheeses, and bread.

Love the fresh-picked fruits and vegetables. Plants, flowers, bread, music, donuts, people are the icing on the cake.

Love the vendors and their produce-from veggies to plants to honey and also the music and donuts! It is all great for the community.

If you want kitsch then this is not your farmer's market. But for a selection of the freshest locally grown veggies and fruits, locally produced cheeses, great meats from local farms, flowers, plants, fresh cider in season, vinegars, spices, salsas, jams, and yes yes yes - still warm donuts the sale of which each week fund a different community group or charitable organization, then this is your place.

I have lived in Oak Park/River Forest for 21 years and have been going to the Oak Park Farmers' Market almost weekly when it is open each year. It is a social and warm gathering which represents an amazing cross-section of the best of our community! There are always fresh and seasonal offerings which I miss terribly when the market hibernates for the winter. Oh, and those donuts....

Donuts! Also wonderful music along with great offerings of vegetables, flowers, meat, bread - awesome selection!

Food and community are the focus. Many choices for meats and produce and of course the donuts and bluegrass. A family neighbor store without the fluorescent lights

I eat healthier and support local farmers...I try new foods and buy more fruits and veggies when I go to Farmers Market.

I grew up in River Forest(neighbor to Oak Park); the Market has been a staple in the community for 34 yrs., has outstanding fresh produce, is a great venue for the farmers, & brings people into the village!

The fresh product is phenomenal....the individual persons at each stand are the friendliest, and most informative.....Great Music....laughter galore...meeting new people constantly...and the fun of buying donuts and coffee to enjoy right there, while talking to all around you. You can't beat this Farmers Market...Oh, by the way, did I mention the floral vendors and the meat stands....etc. etc. CC

I have been an weekly customer for many years & enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the market and the wonderful products. I was an assistant manager of the market for over twenty years and feel that it is one of the best run markets in the Chicago area.

The Oak Park Farmers' Market always has an amazing selection of farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, and other fabulous products. It's a wonderful way to get out at meet people on a Saturday morning, and the donuts are absolutely amazing!

We need access to locally grown produce in the Chicago-Metro area and this market is a key participant in making that happen. We need 50 more of them here!

The farmers and their products are amazing. The market is the weekly town meeting place. I can afford to eat healthfully if I buy at the market.

Every week it's just a bit different ...like an adventure and a treasure hunt all rolled into one.

The variety and quantity of items available is great. In addition to the best produce around, I love the vinegars, rubs and natural soaps.

I love the fabulous fresh gourmet food, the farmers, seeing the community come together, the colors of the flowers and produce, the sounds of the fiddles, people-watching, seeing all the new babies and little kids and their parents, going on a hunt for the best bake sale brownie.

It is the best part of being in this community. It is best part of summer for me. Nothing bring Oak Park together as the Farmer's market and its famed donuts.

This is the ultimate market in Chicago area. Home made warm doughnuts,,a bluegrass band playing banjo,guitar, bass, cello, and sll the time children dancing and eating healthy fresh produce. Every wonderful thing grown and produced by eco- conscious folks from nearby farms and orchards,

I love this market. It's truly the best I've ever attended. The food and farmers would probably be enough, but the fresh, hot doughnuts and live jam-session Blue Grass really push this market ahead of the pack.

It's a nice community event every Saturday. Plus they have many produce growers, many organic farmers as well as organic meat, bakery, cheese, etc. Plus they also allow community groups raise money thru bake sales at the market. But mainly i go for the extremely fresh produce! Just a great little market.

They have have been an intrinsic part of our community for many years and brought fine fresh produce to our us. I also find the gleaming displays of fruit and vegetables to be a wonderful aestetic experience.

Not only is it a great place to get farm-fresh products, but it is a kind of community gathering place. I always run into one or two friends when I shop there, and I always find something special to bring home.

People love to shop there every Saturday for its numbers of farmers, the variety of organic fruits and vegetables and organic frozen meats. There is a strict board tht makes sure each farmer presents his own produce and that their claims are accurate. There is live music, hot donuts prepared on the stop. The whole community meets there bonding with each other, enjoying the food and the out of doors. It is a great place, the only one where all the community meets together and shares, talks, and shops.

Because it's local, locally run, farmer grown stuff, with ethical rules that guarantee local production. The farmers are great, and have been around for years. Local folks are employed at the market, and the food is delicious and fresh.

Not only does it provide excellent produce, community gossip and music, it also has the best donuts in the world.

It is a wonderful place to shop and see great people, hear great music. A great feeling of community.

It's a true community affair: you see friends and neighbors; you develop a relationship with the farmers, who are great; each week a local organization makes and sells freah doughnuts as a fundraiser; there is a local bluegrass band that plays for the fun of it, and people sit and listen, sing along, have doughnuts and coffee or cider, visit with each other while babies dance -- there's nothing not to like.
