This was our first year joining a CSA and I was incredibly impressed by Boulder Gate farm. There was always a lot of food and great variety. I had a lot of fun trying out different food and learning to cook it. I knew there would be a lot of vegetables but I was also impressed by the quantity and variety of fruit. Lucy does a great job letting us know what is going on at the farm, informing us what food to expect each week and providing recipes. Lucy and Eugene work very hard and the result is an excellent value for those who buy a share.

I have known Lucy and Eugene for many years and participated in Farmers Markets with them. I have seen their progression from producing good, healthy food to producing excellent, healthy food. They always have many heirloom varieties along with many rare and different varieties. They have even developed some varieties of their own. I highly reccomend their produce.

Lucy and Eugene provide such delicious and, often, unusual produce that it's fun to explore the options and chat with them about what they have available. The staples are there, but it pays to ask about and try less-familiar varieties - purple asparagus, yellow cucumbers, and many types of herbs. The are one of the best things about a very good local farmer's market!

Meeting Lucy and Eugene has been wonderfully informing and awesomely delicious! I have been shopping with them since last summer at the Oxford Farmer's Market on Saturdays and participated in the winter '08 csa program. I have experienced many new types of products and have determined each of these to be of high quality flavor and condition. Lettuces, herbs, beets, melons, squashes just to name a few. Lucy is extremely knowlegable about her trade and always a pleasure to chat with. I would highly recommend this farm if you are anywhere within the Preble or Butler County area.

Lucy and Gene are friendly, down-to-earth farmers who grow the best tasting lettuce I've ever eaten-including my own. They are always willing to chat about their farming techniques and copious experience growing all sorts of produce. I would highly recommend a trip to their farmstore to stock up on vegetables for the week.

This is our first experience with Community Supported Agriculture. On the whole it has been positive. The quality of the produce is unsurpassed. I've never had such delicious produce. In the spring the lettuces were fantastic! Now the cantalope, green beans and tomoatoes are out of this world!

We still have to augment our diet with additional produce purchases as there is rarely more than one serving of each type of vegetable in the BB share each week. So, we are evaluating the cost/benefit ratio to determine if we'll continue the CSA "experiment".

This was my first time joining a farm share/CSA-type program, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've been very pleased, both with the variety and with the amount of produce provided each week. I signed on for the entire season, and the experience through the changing seasons has not been a disappointing one. We'll be on board again next year, and I think it will be even better, because there's a learning curve involved with preparing foods you've never handled--once you get comfortable, though, this is definitely a fun way to appreciate a broader range of foods...

P.S. Don't be discouraged if you're not in Boulder Belt's immediate vicinity. Although they don't do deliveries, we weren't more than a week or so into the season before I was able to begin sharing the weekly pickups with another individual who lives closer to my family. And now, several weeks in, there's a whole clan of new members from our area, meaning that I make the drive once every 5 weeks!

We love this little farm... produce is fresh from the garden. Tomatoes of every kind, right off the vine. Melons as sweet as honey, and honey too. You'll never taste a better potato. Eggplant is several sizes too. We had the pleasure of sharing their space for the 127 World's Longest Yard Sale, last weekend. Had over 5000 people come thru, made friends & money.( see you next year) Lucy & Eugene were wonderful hosts, shared fruit salad and coffee. Back to the farm, if you are concerned out pesticides, have no fear here. My only wish is that they were open longer hours, for me.

It's amazing the quality and variety of veggies that comes from Boulder Belt Farm. If the veggies could talk they would explain how well they are treated from the time they are planted in the ground until they are harvested. No chemicals, no harsh soil, only the best treatment. It's no wonder the food looks so good. Keep it coming!

This is the first farm share I've been a part of, but I like it! Every week we get a newsletter with what's been going on at the farm (weather, what was harvested, what crops are doing well, what crops are not doing so well, etc...), a recipe and (of course) what's in the share that week. The shares have plenty of food, a nice variety and good information about each of the items in them. This year we even got the opportunity to purchase extra green beans to freeze for the winter (which I totally did) and instructions on how to do it (you know, how to do it well)! I wish they had more squash, but I'm unusual in the amount I like it, so I'll be growing some of my own next year - and I'll still get the farm share. No delivery, but there are several people in my town (45 minutes away) who get shares on the same day and Lucy was more than willing to help us contact each other so we could set up a pick-up rotation. Very worth it!

I've learned a lot from Gene and Lucy in the short time I've known them and they're amoung the freindliest people I know. I'm a new produce farmer and the advice and support they have given me has been invaluable. I've been gardening a long time but you don't realize how difficult it is to produce and market consistantly high quality chemical free produce until you are in the thick of it., believe me I know because I live it every day and its hard work and long hours. I couldn't give a higher recomendation for their produce, experience, and their commitment to their customers. The only bad thing I could say about them is that they need to make more money LOL

We drive about an hour one way to get raspberries when they are in season. They are the best. Also the beets are wonderful and better than our other local organic as the greens were totally untouched by bugs. Everything is picked farm fresh!

Lucy and Eugene never fail to provide the absolute freshest and tastiest goods from their farm. I know I can depend on them for colorful arrays of produce each week at the Farmers' Market and for some great conversation, too.
