I've kept backyard chickens in the city for eight or so years and have helped friends set up backyard flocks. My son and I started a new flock just over a year ago and went up to get Delaware, Welsummer, Ameraucauna and Australorp pullets from Brenda. They are the most amazing, beautiful, hardy and FRIENDLIEST girls I've ever met. Ever! They are inquisitive, come right up to my son and patiently let him pet & pick them up. Would not hesitate a moment to buy from Brenda again -- well worth the pastoral drive up to the farm.

I took Brenda's class at Friendly Haven Farm (a great place to learn) and was so impressed - not only with her expert knowledge of chickens but many other animals, situations, and understanding. I thought I had everything under control until I suspected we had a bug problem. She came to my (chicken) house, patiently checked all my girls and even though they were bug-free, recommended actions for me to take. What a relief to quit wondering and get quick answers!! I am grateful to know her and be able to call on her for help and advice. I wish she was my neighbor!

Brenda really does raise her hens with love. Every day she spends about an hour and a half picking up and touching each chicken so they're all tame and friendly. Some of the little chicks ride in her sweatshirt sleeve, peeking out at the world, and the bigger ones sit in the sweatshirt pocket, happy to be close.
Who else raises chickens this way? Really outstanding.

Too bad more people don't know about this lady. A great resource for teaching peope how to take care of chickens.
