I was so excited when they announced back in February / March that they were opening up a farmer's market that's literally up the road from me. My husband and I went the first Saturday (6/5/2010) and had so much fun just walking and looking at everything! We bought fudge (YUM!), homemade soap (that was AWESOME!) and a t-shirt (vendors were sold out by 9 a.m.). We went last Saturday as well and not only were there more vendors, but so many more people! We bought some bread, some flowers and some vegetables and I can't want to go back again this Saturday!

A few things to note: No matter when you go, there's always plenty of parking, so I thought that was great. All of the vendors and volunteers were polite and cheerful. If you want the best selection, definitely be there early! The best stuff goes quickly!

I hope City of Snellville will do this every year!

The first thing that hits you when you go to the Snellville Farmers' Market is how nice everyone is. You will really enjoy your morning out. Visit the website SnellvilleFarmersMarket.com and click on Vendors to check out all the offerings. More is being added every week. Everything from plants, granola, fudge, honey, vegetables of varieties depending on season, handmade aprons, handcrafted wood cutting boards - anything for the casual cook to the most dedicated foodie. Snellville is also promoting the arts by having musicians play and artists paint live at the market when available. Plenty of parking and a friendly atmosphere. Arrive early for best selection, and bring your shopping bags!

When I heard the words premiere market and Snellville in one sentence I couldn't help but snicker, but then came June 5th. As I reflected on what I knew about the Market I realized, this market has not made any missteps. From the eye catching logo, to the very public proclamation of their standards. These people are serious, and because of their level of committment, the public and the vendors benefit. I first heard about the market on facebook, that is when the snicker occurred. Then within 3 weeks they had over 1200 fans, that's when I began to take notice and began to follow this unlikely venture in this unlikely town. The ground work was impressive, a great logo, then a great brochure. The level of professionalism and quality projected a positive image with a great amount of organization. On June 5th, this group really showed their stuff. Vendors I spoke with were impressed with the attitude of the staff and the procedure was flawless. Vendors facing the street on two sides of the market made an impressive site for passerbys, and soon to be shoppers. A minor detail that was not overlooked., All that to give the good people of southeast Gwinnett , OK I will agree, a PREMIERE Market in the most unlikely of places Snellville. If you haven't visited you will soon, and you will enjoy the experience. The people responsible for establishing this market expect nothing less.

This is the first year for the SFM and it's looking like a great success. With a wide range of vendors you can find lots of local produce, meat, eggs, and dairy as well as some handcrafted items and delicious baked goods. The location is on the main Hwy 78 corridor from Decatur to Athens so finding it won't be a problem. Go early for the best selection.

So glad I no longer have to drive to neighboring towns for fresh. local goods!
