One of the truly great things that has happened in Warwick in food recently was that Pennings Farm Market opened their space on Saturdays and Sundays to small food makers for a wonderful indoor farmers market. during the off-season. Bravo. Pennings is THE food store in Warwick.

Now that ...Shoprite has re-merchandised into a Walmart type format with limited selections of over-packaged, food-like substances from salt, sugar, and additives purveyors. The new Price Chopper Mall on South 94 in Warwick that replaces a beautiful farm and rural vista (reason alone for boycotting the store) will no doubt showcase more inedible crap with unending rows of low priced stuff that looks like food but has no taste. I do not care if it's "organic" or "local" if it tastes like cardboard. Sorry. There is NO Excuse for RUINING perfectly good farmland with stupid strip mall buildings even if God himself wanted to live there.

Pennings is a local. family-owned and operated store which is community-minded and supportive of farming. By the way their plants are fantastic. They have a nice selection of good foods along with produce and for my money offer the best local value. Cross the Street and Vote with your Feet. I say. Kudos to Pennings for Quality.
