I am sending in my review not as a CSA member but as an overall review. I attended this farm for an Apple pruning seminar given through PASA. I also attended their seminar on CSA at one of the WV Small Farm Conferences. The Kretschmanns are the real deal in organic production! They are great people and their farm is amazing! I encourage anyone in the metro Pittsburgh area to look into joining their CSA. I don't think you can go wrong.

This is our first year with the Kretchmann CSA. We belonged to a different CSA for the past few years, but I just wanted to try a different one. I am so glad I did! We are very early in the season, but I felt so compelled to review right away since everything thus far has exceeded my expectations. The variety and quantity of veggies received has been amazing. The quality is unmatched. I am recommending this CSA to all of my friends! The price is an absolute steal- $27 a week for all organic? Unbeatable! I had several friends over this past weekend and served them a salad made with kretchmann's mesclun greens. Everyone raved about it! I'm super exited for the rest of the season, and will most Definately be ordering a winter share.

The Kretschmann CSA is simply outstanding. Everything we have received has been wonderful -- the produce tastes amazing, and the variety and quantity are great. The weekly newsletter is great too, and the Kretschmann's often offer add-ons (bushels of tomatoes, basil, potatoes) that you can have dropped off with your regular box. Communicating with the Kretschmann's is a breeze too, and the boxes are always neatly packed and delivered on time. We will be sorry when the regular season is over but we will definitely order the winter boxes as they become available and eagerly await next season.

I have subscribed for a few years now, and I have been consistently pleased with everything about Kretschmann Farm. The food is very affordable, the quality is excellent, and the service is great.

They include a newsletter with tips and recipes, and offer photos and descriptions of unfamiliar foods. This has been very helpful to me, as I am not from the area and things are grown here that I have never seen before.

They also offer extras such as coffee, organic chickens, bread, cheese, and occasional winter boxes for those who are interested.

I can't say enough good things about the food and the farm. I highly recommend them.

Last year was my first experience with a CSA. The Kretschmann farm produces gorgeous, delicious veggies and fruits, with a great variety. I was never disappointed. I especially enjoyed some of the special buys where we could purchase large quantities of specific items in season for canning/freezing/preserving. The value was incomparable to local stores and even the farmer's markets. They do a great job coordinating with a few other suppliers to offer additional items like shadegrown coffee, raw cheese, locally produced jams/preserves, cider, and beef. They also offer winter boxes filled with hardier veggies during the off-season. I've already signed up for 2009, and am looking forward to my first box.

This is my first year belonging to a CSA and I can't say enough for the Kretschmann's and their produce. Excellent quality, freshness and value. I have been given the oportunity to explore produce I have never seen in traditional venues, like garlic scapes (which I love!) and pea shoots. You can tell they love what they do. It shows with their weekly emails and informative website. Kudos!!!

I've been a subscriber for 2.5 years. Great quality and diversity of veggies. Very generous portions especially in the fall. Convenient pickups all over Pittsburgh. Great cost savings over buying organic in the store. You also won't find the diversity of organic produce at any market. The farm also includes a newsletter with recipes so you can figure out how to eat all the good veggies.
