Farmer's market season is over in this area (or nearly so) but I still want fresh veggies and there are lots in season this warm fall. So, I went out to Grama Sue's Farm in Niota to buy right at the farm. They had plenty of picked-that-day produce and an abundance of fresh free-range eggs. Amiable chickens and goats rule the yard, kept in check by a very sweet dog. I haven't been to visit many farms, but it seemed perhaps not the most well organized or tidy. They are just getting started and plan to expand, so in the future that aspect may shape up. I walked away a satisfied customer with spinach, kale, chard, snap peas, radishes, thyme, basil, dill, cilantro, and a dozen eggs for a mere $16.
