I have shopped Indigo Run Farm organic produce (I pick up the produce at Indigo Farm in Calabash, NC) for several years now and I've never been disappointed. They work very hard to provide a variety of quality produce and it's fun shopping for whatever is "in" the day I go. They great to work with as I live a "fur piece" (that's southern-speak for a significant distance) from them so sometimes they will pull certain items for me so I can be sure I get them--stuff sells so fast at the store!

I truly enjoy shopping locally and seasonally. I've tried new veggies and fruits, made some new favorite foods, and can't wait for their early lettuces to show up. You really don't know what "REAL" food tastes like until you've tried organic or all-natural foods--it's the way food is supposed to taste and has all the nutrients that are so good for us.

In a time when local farms are struggling, I think it's important to support them wherever you can. No farms--no bees--no food!

Even if organic is not your "thing," please support them in other ways. Their store offers local eggs, a variety of cured products, fuits, nuts, sundry, and more. They have a great bakery (if you like eclairs, theirs are simply to die for and some folks say their pies are like none other!) They also have a large selection of canned foods--my mother loves the old-fashioned sauerkraut with caraway.

One of my favorite things at Indigo Farm Store is to watch the honeybees--from INSIDE the store! There is a glass viewing area with one "super" in it. The bees come and go at will as they do their "bee thing." So cool! And of course the honey is yummy. Hard not to eat it by the spoonful.

They also have a garden section attached to the store so while I shop for things to eat, I can also shop for things to plant. I especially like planting all kinds of herbs and "bee/butterfly" plants and they have a nice variety during the growing season.

Next time you're out and about, stop by the store and see what they offer. The folks are friendly and I'm sure you'll find something you can't live without trying!

p.s. This review is in January so they're only open Wed and Sat with limited hours. Eat local. "Bee" healthy.
