My son's chronic sinus infections disappeared and never came back, within 10 days of starting on raw milk, so I am a big fan. This is my 3rd herd share to participate in. I have been with this group for over a year. The family is very nice. They produce high quality, fairly priced products. I highly recommend this farm.

They have by far the best tasting milk I have ever had in my life. Very impressed with the methods they use to ensure the quality of their products. It's probably why the milk tastes so good. Each half gallon has a nice layer of cream. I have made butter, cream cheese, and kefir. If you are considering a herd share dairy, you have got to try this milk. "So Good, So Good, So good!"

They do not have yogurt or cheese. They have milk and eggs. The eggs are $4 a dozen. I can get good free range fresh farm eggs from at least 3 other places around the area for $1.50 to $2 a dozen as long as I provide the egg cartons. I wasn't impressed and will go elsewhere.

That's fine if you just want to save a quick buck by exploiting people who can't do math. But if you want to have a steady, local supply of quality, free-range eggs, you can't rely on having your egg purchases subsidized by hobbyists who will sell to you at a loss. That's not sustainable (or ethical). It costs more than a buck-fifty just to FEED hens enough to lay a dozen eggs if you're buying feed in quantities any smaller than truckloads. Once you figure in the cost of birds, equipment, facilities, marketing, etc., two dollars is under cost. Yeah, you can find people foolish enough to sell them for that little, but they won't be in business long and you'll have to find some other fool to prey on.

What other places are you talking about. We just moved into the area and are looking for farm fresh eggs at a good price.

We found the Payne Family Farm about a year ago and entered into a herd share. Our family has always valued home grown fruits and vegetables, but we were a little wary of raw milk. The milk is fabulous. Fresh raw milk is one of God's greatest gifts to us. You never really know how deprived you have been of something so naturally healthy and truly delicious until you taste it. The Paynes are very friendly and have always tried to accommodate us when there was a pickup time issue. I am very glad I found them.
