Today my handicapped husband and I took our granddaughter for her first experience picking strawberries. I paid $16 upfront for a 4 qt. box. We went to the patch and an hour later left with less than 1 qt. The berries are sweet and smell great but are not worth $16! I think it would have been better if we could have paid by weight rather than box. I also think it would have been more honest to tell us there weren't many berries left in the patch. Maybe if we had stayed 4-5 hours in the 90 degree heat, we would have found more berries. A very disappointing experience. Having said all that, we usually love Strites' fruits, vegetables and bakery. This experience will not keep us away, but I'll be more careful what I'm paying for. The farm I rate 5 stars, but this experience I rate 2 stars.

The selection we received from Strites this year was phenomenal in both diversity and portion. Most weeks there was at least one fruit and several vegetables in the box (a file box FULL most weeks). We gotten to sample quite a few apple varieties, pears, plums, berries. The item portions were ample--a half a grocery bag of beans or a quart box of berries or 10 apples.

The open farm days are generally convenient for my family and had generous allowances and reduced prices for anything beyond.

We do two farms and Strites has, far and above, exceeded any expectations. We will most definitely sign up next year!
