The roadside stand down Hwy. 23 sold me a false product under the guise of Louisiana Creole Tomatoes. I stopped on my way from down the river to get the expected superior quality produce. When I examined the tomatoes, I should have trusted my instincts and experience. The top of the tomatoes did not have characteristic split skin of a creole tomato. Once I got home, the taste was the bland green house grown product available in the grocery stores. The interior structure did not have the high % meat to void ration either. My mother grew up in Boothville on a farm where my grandmother continued raising produce after Hurricane Camille. They sold me bulk non-local tomatoes with false labelling. this is like selling imported farm raised shrimp from wherever and saying they are Louisiana Gulf shrimp. There is a big difference if you know the difference. The purchase price isn't what bothers me, it is the fraud of what is a unique product.
