Rainbow Grocery is vegetarian. The only meat they sell is in their pet food. They are also mostly organic, non-GMO and as Fair Trade friendly as possible. The co-op is a genuine democratic cooperative, as in the workers all own a part of the business. They also support the community through many, many different programs and donations. As if all of the above weren't enough to support this local gem, they have pretty much anything you can think of in bulk. There is no snootiness or judgement about anyone's dietary needs here. Their prices (especially if you buy bulk) are simply unbeatable. This is my favorite place to get groceries in the city, hands down.
