I've been amazed at how fast the WDFM has caught on. It is hip and fun and getting more functional each weak. Glad someone took the initiative to get this started!

Having recently moved to Waco, I went to the farmers market expectantly, and was sadly disappointed. People in town had told me that this was the place to find organic vegetables. There was only one vendor with organic veggies. I heard various responses from hesitant "no, we are not organic" to "we do not want the government involved." As a consumer, I have no other way to ensure that what I am paying a premium for is as pesticide, herbicide, etc. free as I can get my hands on. I was sad to see that while there is plenty of socializing--but unfortunately I cannot feed it to my family--it was seriously deficient in organic food. Even the vendor who told me that his veggies were organic did not have anything posted to that effect, making me seriously doubt his integrity. Again, I cannot express my disappointment that people in Waco are not provided with the healthiest options. Therefore, I did not return.

Please contact The Home Grown Farm for pesticide-free, "Certified Natural" produce! They set up at the farmer's market and have a great CSA! www.thehomegrownfarm.com.

The Waco Downtown Farmers Market is a great way to start your Saturday. The beautiful setting under the big trees along the Brazos River feels refreshing. There is usually live music, lots of food venders, and very friendly local farmers. I have been to farmers markets in other cities, but none have as friendly an atmosphere as the Waco market. Come early and eat breakfast there; you will not be disappointed.

The Waco Downtown Farmers Market is the most beautiful farmers market the I've been to. It is in a great setting of old oak trees with grass all around, but actual vendor area is paved. I've been almost weekly since they opened and there has always been a nice group of friendly vendors. The one complaint I had previously has been fixed!. They finally moved the porta potties away from what I considered the "front door" of the market. Now they are tucked away to the side. Great job, Waco Downtown Farmer's Market

I am so happy to I get to do this review, and while I could go on and on about how wonderful the market is, I decided to give you 3 reasons to visit.

1. It is the social event of the week! You see so many people you know, and get to meet people you don't know, all while supporting local farmers and vendors and listening to great music. It's such a great time!

2. It has been a huge educational tool for our community. I see and hear people looking at and tasting new foods, and educating themselves on what it means to eat healthy and local. Waco didn't have many options before the market opened and now we do, and I truly believe it's making us think about our food sources more and more.

3. It has been a wonderful financial boost for the vendors involved. As part of World Hunger Relief, Inc., I've gotten to see first hand how our organization has benefitted, and we all know buying local usually means that money goes back in to the local economy. Everyone wins!

Thanks! Come visit! You'll be glad you did.

In less than a year this farmer's market has turned into one of the best things about Waco! There's always lots of people, produce, new entertainment and vendors all the time. I've been waiting for this for years and finally it's here! You won't be disappointed!
