I had the pleasure and honor to visit R'Eisen Shine Farms at the beginning of March. I've been on a farm before, but I've never visited in quite this way.

As a share holder of this CSA, I took a deeper interest in what this particular farm looked like, from the perspective of actually caring about the live stock, the set up, the efficiency, the operation and the people who will be over seeing all of that.

On every level, this place is impressive.

Ejay Carter and Kim Eisen are exactly how you want your farmers to be. They are easy going, efficient, they care deeply about what they are doing. Additionally, it appears that they love delicious food and take a healthy approach to their love and ingestion of that food. That translates into people who care deeply about their product(s) and where and how those products are being raised.

Now, keep in mind that I am not exactly a judge of how to spot a happy chicken or rabbit or goat. However, I do know, from various articles, films and conversations, what miserable , abused animals are subjected to, and these were definitely not in that category.

Everything was bright and clean The. animals seemed perfectly cared for and comfortable, well fed, warm, adjusted, and surrounded by compassionate humans and thoughtful people. Who better to raise the stock that will end up as fixings in my kitchen, where I will continue to love and care for it, with my extraordinary chef skills, than thoughtful, serious, compassionate foodies and lovers of the land?

The operation is clean, efficient, and the envisioning that is constantly happening about growth and expansion all seem possible for this operation.

I am excited to get my organic produce, meats and other lovely products from R'Eisen Shine Farms. Can't wait until I get my first delivery in June.
