I was lucky enough to stumble upon Tom Bradley's road side stand (D.L.P.). The sign "Ice cold watermelons" is what brought me in, but that's certainly not all I left with. First, the watermelons were the sweetest I had tasted in a long, long while and that's saying a lot considering I grew up in Moline, Ill. not too far from Muscatine which is well know for its Muscatine melons. I also took with me some of the most flavorful heirloom tomatoes (delicious in B.L.T. sandwhiches) and big fresh red onions all of which were grown without pesticides or trace chemicals. If your travels take you to Devil's Lake State park or the Baraboo area I highly recommend a trip to Devil's Lake Produce. You won't be disappointed!
