Paid $250.60 on March 17, 2026 for 14 turkey poults (Order #6060), originally due to ship by end of April. After the window passed with no word, I reached out and the business confirmed in writing they'd ship after May 25–26. That date came and went too. It's now late July — four months after the order — and I've received no birds, no shipping notice, and no response to repeated calls, voicemails, emails, and website chat messages. I'd also flag that this listing states "AV Birds is NPIP CERTIFIED." I contacted the California Poultry Federation directly, which administers NPIP certification in California, and was told AV Bird Hatchery is not currently an active NPIP participant. Worth confirming before you order based on that claim.

Do not order from them. Never received my turkeys. Absolute scam.

I was very happy to find a hatchery local in California. I was buying my chicks and they were shipping from Iowa, but now I am getting them from AV Birds. Got my chicks at the post office. One was dead, but they had sent me extras anyways. All are living and thriving well. I plan to get my turkey poults from this this year. Highly recommend AV Birds.

I bought some trukeys and chukars from them. Their customer service was very nice. Tony the ranch owner was very helpful in helping me choose the right turkeys for me and my family. I was not able to tour their ranch due to strict regulations, but from what I have seen it was a very clean operation; looks good and smells good. I will be using them again for my thanksgiving turkeys and other birds to train my hunting dog on. Thanks guys.
