Fabulous purchase!

My husband and I bought half a cow from Johnstons Farm, and it was the best investment we have made in a while. As someone who has actually seen how Allen treats his livestock, I can say without a doubt these are 100% free-range, grass-fed cows who are happy and healthy. The taste is fantastic!

There are obviously some idiots who left reviews on this site who do not read his directions attached to the pickup directions email on how to properly cook grass-fed beef (it says LOW AND SLOW), but that is not the fault of the Johnston Family.

Great deal on the beef. Feel secure having a freezer full of beef that lived the way a cow should. Cooked it right and tasted great to me.

Bad beef

We purchase a cow in May . The worst cow I have ever eaten tough can?t eat it . The worse butcher job ever the butcher did a horrible job cutting this cow We are unable to eat this meat no matter how you try and fix . Contacted the owner he said it?s good of course he does . He made no offer to make this purchase right . Do yourself a favor do not waste your money buying meat from Johnston farms . We bought 600 lbs of terrible meat . He should not be allowed to sell meat .

Thank you for the heads up. Still looking...trying to find a place that doesn't torture the cattle as they slaughter them. But I need to be able to chew and swallow the meat...

I had to throw out probably 55 lb of frozen beef I purchased from Johnston Farm! I hate to post this, but must. From day one the beef was tough as nails with little flavor. I contacted Allen Johnston and he was not willing to help. The only thing he said he would do would be to give me a discount on my next purchase of his beef! I bought a mechanical tenderizer which helped a tiny bit, but what a shame! I spent so much money to have such a bad experience from people that did not seem to care about customer service. Stay away!

Thank you so much for sharing this information. I would be so upset too as I am looking for a farm to buy bulk meat from and appreciate your honest review because I do not have the money to spare and then be screwed over with bad meat!

This customer purchased a half beef. The person that received the other half of this beef was very happy with their purchase. Same cow two different perspectives.

I bought a whole cow and 1/2 pig. The pig was very good but the cow was horrible. It wasn't that the meat was so bad, but the how they cut the meat up was terrible. The ground beef had large chunks of marble fat. I have never seen steaks cut so bad. I ended up donating all the meat to shelters. Complete waste of 3k.

Our butcher has been in the processing business all of his life and is extremely professional. If there were issues with his product we would certainly find another.
