The family and I headed down to BHC for the first market of the season last weekend. We're new to the area, so I don't know the history of this farmers market, but it seems they're relatively new. (As opposed to the town I moved from, where they'd had one established for 20+ years...) The good: - Location is wonderful. Plenty of parking, nearby playground for kids, seating, and shade. - Variety! There were folks selling produce, eggs, canned goods, and fresh-baked breads and pastries, but there were also booths with heritage seeds, composting tools, soaps, etc. - Sense of community. All the vendors we met were very friendly and had great info to share, and other market patrons were pretty awesome, too. (Plan to spend at least an hour there; we were rushed to handle other errands and now I wish we'd stayed longer!) ......Could improve: - I'd like to see more vendors. This was the first of the season, though, so that might change on its own. - I'd love to see more produce. The vendors we saw explained the growing season here is different, and to expect MUCH more in the coming months. - More frequent markets. I think vendors and patrons could support semi-monthly market dates.

In all, it was a great experience and I'm looking forward to the next one in November!
