After much consideration I decided to add a second pig to my crew. I did a lot of searching before happening upon Hog On The Range. I was looking for something specific, a small homesteading, keeper/pet, non breeding pig. As such I was looking for health, a specific 'look' was a factor, but most importantly temperament. I knew before I even went to the farm that HotR was the right one when Jason was able to articulate the different personalities of the prospective pigs that may suit my needs. By the way he spoke, I knew that he truly knew his pigs. The day I went to look at my 'candidates' I knew immediately that a lot of time and care was spent on the pigs. They are very well kept and maintained. They had lots of space, were clean, had top notch housing, no signs of parasites or illness, and most importantly...these pigs were very well socialized! They were not skittish, fearful, and did not act as if they never had human contact. They were well mannered, polite&social.Jason has been able to answer any and every question I have ever had. If you are looking for any additions to your homestead and you have to select 'just one pig' I would certainly start here.

I visited Hog on the Range just to get an idea of the size and temperament of Kune Kune pigs and I was so impressed with Jason Strayhorn's operation I went back a week later and picked up two gilts. The pigs are healthy, well conformed, completely socialized to people and other animals and just adorable. Jason was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. His facilities are good, his pastures look good and are not overly burdened, his feed program is meticulous and overall, you can tell how much he genuinely likes and cares for his animals. I'm very happy with my visit and my pigs and look forward to visiting Hog on the Range again soon.

I recently purchased a boar, Hansel and two sows, Gretel and Nicole from the Strayhorns at Hog on the Range in Florence, AL. I could not be more satisfied. They are happy pigs with wonderful personalities. I can tell that they were raised in a healthy environment with the best care and attention. They love a good ear scratching and belly rub. I can hardly wait to breed them this December for a spring set of piglets. This is the third group of American Guinea Hogs that I have purchased. I have never been disappointed with the breed. They are amazing animals and the Strayhorns have done an impeccable job raising them.
