First time by and sorry not sooner. I bought a $20 bag of fresh spring lettuces for $2. Incredible blueberry lavender jam--low sugar! Jar of crushed fruit you can taste instead of sugar. Lovely new potatoes. Divine Sugar pie (never had one, amazing). Crocheted Jack Skellington pot holder for my daughter. All of this for $20.

There's nothing like locally grown produce! Since I live in town, with lots of shade trees in my yard, I'm not able to grow all the produce I'd like to consume. The market offers an abundance of the freshest fruits and vegetables in season, grown locally by organic minded individuals. But, in addition to that, one vendor who has frequented the market for years, sells the best goat cheeses and fresh baked goods of anyone for states around. A very back to the earth individual, she has a huge clientelle established who buy out her goods before the end of every market!
We recently had an F3 tornado which destroyed a large portion of the heart of our burg... 100 plus year old homes and trees, many homes which will not be rebuilt. A feature like the farmer's market, continuing to be held at our historic depot downtown on a twice a week basis, creates for us a semblance of community that we are desparately in need of during these difficult times.
