The majority of the farmers have been at this market for 10-15 yrs. Their food is fresh and many of the farmers grow organically. I try to buy only organic foods to eat. You get to see friends every week at the market, it's community.

Our farmer's market allows only REAL farmers to sell their produce. No middle-folks here. We're a small city and the Sunday farmer's market - held on our main street, appropriately closed off for the weekly event -- is key to giving us our identity as well as a gathering place. Folks come to buy, but they also come to socialize.
As is the case for many small cities, the current economic crisis is hurting our downtown merchants. We, as a community, are trying hard to keep ou downtown alive and vibrant. Our farmer's market is one of the key things that we have going in terms of getting local and not-necessarily local folk to come and savor our town in all its specialness.

Because it has such a wonderful variety of foods, fruit, and veg and plants and herbs. The people are lovely and we meet and greet all our neighbors up there every Sunday morning. We also have the pleasure of listening to Frank on his banjo, which we all love especially the children.

They operate all year round, have a great (and truly *local*) selection, with diverse options and extremely friendly vendors. The Market in Takoma Park is truly a part of the community here, a place where people can interact with their neighbors and with the people who grew your food.

Too many reasons! It's the perfect mix of fresh fruits and veggies, eggs and cheeses, and fresh prepared foods. Everyone sells and buys with genuine smiles on their faces. It has entertainment for kids, and an "ATM" that dispenses wooden tokens. And it's all producer-only!

The Takoma Park Farmer's Market has offered top quality fruits, vegetables, cheeses, breads, sausages, plants, flowers for at least the 23 years that I've had the pleasure of living in Takoma Park. AND, meeting up at the Farmer's Market on Sunday morning is one of our greatest pleasures. Everyone is friendly, committed to loving Mother Earth, and committed to building and sustaining community. Fun too are the musicians who often hand out.

Not only is it about good, fresh food--from homebaked breads, to gorgeous cut flowers that always make me smile, to local goat cheese, to garden plants, to antibiotic-free meats and eggs, to every imaginable fruit and veggie--it's also about community. It's a place to hear local musicians, meet and talk with friends, and also to catch the energy of Takoma Park's wonderful hometown main street. It's the best of small-town living in the midst of the urban jungle. Five stars plus!!

I live a few blocks from the market. It's such a joy to walk there every Sunday. The produces are fresh and tasty and the sellers(farmers) are also very friendly and knowledgable.
The market start early (don't know what time), and end at two. It operates year-round.
Highly recommend!!!
