I like to shop locally and support my local farmers, plus I get a better selection of food grown without chemicals. And you get to know the farmers and they get to know you.

Local produce and food is by far the best for our community, economy, and ecology. We have few other places to get such good local food, and the farmer's market has grown and developed quite substantially in recent years. Keep up the good work, Norman.

lots of great local produce. Wish they weren't allowed to sell non-local stuff, though.

At least once a week I try to get to the Market. They have fresh vegetables and fruit plus other items. They have a system of identifying whether they grew the item themselves or bought it for resale, green tags for homegrown and white for resale.

I like to serve locally grown produce to my family when I can. It is better for our environment and for us when we have fresher food that hasn't traveled and been stored. We like supporting our neighbors too!

I have fresh peaches, blackberries and okra, good conversations and pride in my hometown.
There are particular vendors I visit each week, and my yard looks much better since I've purchased healthy plants from people who know what grows here. We just moved back home after a 20 year absence and visiting my market helps me feel like I'm back where I belong.

Great opportunities to: purchase locally grown/made items; meet the people who bring them to us and others who support community in this way; .....and LEARN......about the richness of our land and our people.....right here in central OK. If we look closely, at what really matters to us.....and others (near and far) we find we are more alike than different.....don't we all find it difficult to appreciate aphids, moles, mosquitoes and spider mites.....to name a few "true enemies".

When you live in the middle of the country, surprisingly most of the produce in the store comes all the way from CA or even out of the country. We have a lot of farmers here in OK, so what better way to support them, than to buy directly from them. The food tastes better, you get to meet so many wonderful people, and you know you're money is staying in your community where it can help the people you care about most. Our market has grown so much in the last 4 years, and it's because of US! How gratifying!

I support the Norman Farmer's Mkt. because our local farmer's support our environment, the community's health (no steroids or hormones) and many of these farmers support animal's rights--free range grass-eating happy cows and chickens. I get raw honey there from a local beekeeper. I can drive in my car and visit these farms, or just look at the sight of contented animals rolling in the grass or frolicking with their young this spring. Factory farms, with their inhumane treatment of their inmates are not nearby. Norman is a college town, and this has contributed to the general level of understanding of how unhealthy and dangerously polluting are the practices of these factory farms. I am a farmer's daughter who moved to the city. I love the country and want to preserve it for future generations. I do not feel myself above the animals...fortunately I know that I am part of the interconnected web of life on our beloved planet. Our support of our local Farmer's markets is support of all life--our own included! They are vitally important. Thank you, Care2, for feeling the same way.
