River Oak Farm is owned and operated by Adam Aucoin and Cassy Kelly. We farm 75 beautiful acres in historic Lowesville, VA on the banks of the Piney River. We are located 3.5 miles form the George Washington National Forest and the Priest Mountain Wilderness Area. At River Oak Farm we are passionate about utilizing sustainable farming methods to produce the most nutrient dense, pastured meats and eggs possible. The cow herd we manage is 100% grass-fed from birth. Our broilers, turkeys and true free-ranging egg layers have 24-hour access to pasture, and their forage is supplemented with non-GMO, locally milled grain. We use intensive, rotational grazing methods on our animals to maximize soil health and to provide them with fresh grass and grubs daily. The style of farming that we do is very labor intensive but gives us a real relationship with the animals and allows us to observe their health and well-being on a day-to-day basis. Our products are available for purchase at the Nelson County Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings from 8-12, as well as wholesale, restaurant and retail accounts. We also welcome purchases on the farm. Anyone is welcome to come for a visit, tour the farm, meet the animals and check out the sweet views! Please give us a call or send us an email if you are looking for fine quality, pastured beef, chicken, turkey or eggs!
