Knowing where your food comes from is a very important concern in today's society for so many reasons, and yet farms and farmland are being developed at an alarming rate in the state of Connecticut. Having CSA member shares is another way we can maintain our commitment to the future of local farming and the quality of the food we eat. Members share some of the risk involved in being a grower by paying in advance the cost of the season's share, but they also share in its benefits.

Eating seasonally is something we no longer understand very well as we go to the grocery store to buy the ingredients for a meal regardless of the season. Having a CSA membership enables you and your family to understand what is in season locally and plan your meals accordingly.

We believe in a sustainable way of life, and our extended family works in our fields, planting and harvesting. We are not an organic farm but we use IPM, (integrated pest management) which means we only spray when necessary and try to use sprays approved for use on organic farms. Robert Treat Farm is a member of the Connecticut Farm Bureau and a member of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture's "Connecticut Grown, The Local Flavor" campaign.

Our season is 16 weeks from June to September. LARGE SHARE Suitable for a family of four to six $35 per week x 16 weeks = $560 season

MEDIUM SHARE Suitable for four adults $25 per week x 16 weeks = $400 season

SMALL SHARE Suitable for one to two adults $15 per week x 16 weeks = $240 season

ADD A FRUIT--seasonal native fruit $10/week x 8 weeks: $ 80

Checks should be made payable to Robert Treat Farm and sent along with your completed application to the address on the form. There will be no refunds and no credit given for missed weeks, so please make arrangements to have a friend pick up for you if you are unable to yourself. There will be no substitutions for items.
