Joe Markholt owns and operates Salmon Creek Meats with his wife, Sona. Joe grew up on his family's farm and started working in his family's own butcher shop, the Meat Shop of Tacoma, at the age of 14. When Joe and Sona moved out to rural Mossyrock in 1994, it was to establish their own family farm. In 1998 Salmon Creek Meats was established to carry on the family owned butcher shop tradition.
Emphasis is placed on quality meat processing and minimal waste. More time is taken in the processing and we only cut one half at a time. We have worked hard to deserve the trust of our customers. We respect that our customers have spent the time and money to raise a clean animal. Repeat customers come to Salmon Creek Meats because they know they will get all their meat back and only their meat, guaranteed!
We also have perfected chemical free curing and smoking of bacons and hams and chemical free sausage making. This means no msg, nitrates, nitrites are used. We do not use common allergens such as dairy, gluten, eggs, nuts or corn. All you get back is your meat and the spices used to make your sausage.
