SandyCreek Farm is a small parcel of divided family land with a history rich in traditional farming practices covering many generations. Included in our fruit crops sold fresh and used in our homemade jellies & preserves are Muscadine grapes, heirloom pears & figs, blueberries & blackberries. We began growing organic Shiitake mushrooms in 2006 through a research program at NC A & T University. We now have close to 1,000 inoculated mushroom logs and sell the fresh mushrooms in our Farm Store, the Lexington Farmers Market (at the Depot) and to local restaurants and local food buying clubs. Not only are Shiitake a delicious & versatile gourmet delight, but they are also a good source of fiber, protein and anti-oxidants. We have a greenhouse with select plants including the old-fashion johnny jump up, angel wing begonia, woodland ferns, umbrella magnolia & snowball; also tropicals such as banana plants, hibiscus & angel trumpets. You are invited to enjoy our dedicated cutting flower & herb gardens, a walk along the Nature Trail to Sandy Creek, and be sure to ask about our Instant Picnics! We are founding members of both the North Carolina Mushroom Growers Association and the Lexington Farmers Market Association. We are also members of the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce.
