Vicarious Ranch is a 60 acre ranch in Central Coast California, along the, now dry, bed of the Salinas River. We have a small but growing herd of dairy goats, and we raise dorper/st.croix sheep and mangalitsa pigs for meat. We also have about 75 free-range chickens and a dozen ducks for eggs. Our animals are 100% pasture raised. We supplement our pigs and chickens with a non-gmo, no soy, no wheat feed. Our sheep are fed and finished 100% on grass. While we are not a certified organic farm, we do utilize organic practices and do not use pesticides of any form. We have a seasonal garden and 70+ fruit tree orchard as well as a flower (cutting) garden. To help us manage our herds we have lifestock guardian dogs and border collies. Life is busy on the ranch, but we do take time out to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. The ranch sits about 20 minutes from Paso Robles. The ranch is surrounded by large and small homesteads and cattle ranches. On immediate neighbor runs a seasonal u-pick orchard, another has a small vineyard, and a third is currently planting an olive grove. We maintain a farmstand on the property that is open all year (hours vary) where we sell our USDA processed meat and eggs as well as goat milk soap and lotions. When we have a surplus of fruit and veggies, you can find those in the farmstand as well. Our farm is not open to the public, as we live and work on the property...but we do hold special events throughout the year such as goat walks and socials.
