Ithaca CSA and Cortland CSA
Sacred Seed Farm rests in the beautiful Finger Lakes highlands of Summerhill, in southeast Cayuga County. The farm overlooks Lake Como and the wetland headwaters of Fall Creek which meanders several miles to Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, NY. Bordered by several thousand acres of forest, this pristine location offers a unique, diverse and protected environment where we can experience the seasons and grow good clean food for our CSA members and patrons of the Ithaca and Syracuse farmer's markets.
Sacred Seed continues to follow a vision of producing the healthiest organically grown food crops for our surrounding communities. Organic farming methods are practiced, respecting the land and it's intricately diverse living systems. We utilize cover cropping, compost, rock minerals, mulches and even weeds for fertility. The farm engages in preventative strategies for pest and disease management, encouraging habitats for beneficial insects. Planting, cultivating, weed management, harvest and selection are all done by hand. After reaching our washing and sorting station we grade what we have harvested and select only the highest quality food to be passed on to you. We emphasize flavor in our vegetable and fruit variety selections adding to the high quality in our harvest for local farmer's markets and CSA members. We are USDA certified organic through The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA NY) and go further, bringing our standards and quality above and beyond organic labels.
