Skyline pastures is a small family owned farm where we raise pastured poultry, forest-pork, and grass-fed beef. Our chickens, turkeys, and pigs all enjoy a non-GMO feed ration in addition to their ample forage. Our focus is on regenerative agriculture, and as such we raise our animals outdoors on constantly rotating paddocks to ensure the greatest benefit to both the animal and the land.
Our pastured broiler chickens are raised in mobile floorless coops called "chicken tractors" and are moved to a new paddock daily. This style of raising chickens provides them with fresh grass, insects, and other forage each day while spreading their manure evenly across the pasture. The purpose of the mobile coop (chicken tractor) is to protect the chickens from predators such as racoons and hawks.
Our forest-raised pigs spend their entire lives outdoors, rooting up the woods, running around, and generally being, well, pigs. They rotate through a series of large paddocks which include woods, marshland, and open pasture. We raise crosses of heritage breeds such as Duroc, Berkshire, and Large Black which results in pigs that are active foragers and well-suited to living outdoors.
Skyline pastures is a veteran-owned farm and is certified PA Preferred.
