Farm Fresh Eggs from Grass-Fed Hens

Family Farm
The "farm" isn't much of a farm at all. My family lives on an acreage and we graze New Hampshire Reds, and a few Easter Eggers, on our half-acre pasture. The gals don't produce at a lay rate that is very commercially competitive, but they are hardy, docile, and actually rather friendly.

The eggs are laid by New Hampshire Red hens, and a few Easter Egger hens, who are set free to graze every morning and given just a small amount of high-protein feed to keep their caretakers (roosters) happy. They graze mostly on alfalfa and brome with a few mulberry bushes that they enjoy harvesting. The eggs are large, primarily brown but with at least one green in every dozen.
